An open work permit allows a foreigner to work for any Canadian employer he/she wants over a specified duration of time. The Post-Graduation Work Permit Program (PGWPP) of Canada allows students who have graduated from qualified Canadian designated learning institutions to acquire an open work permit to get important Canadian work experience. Skilled Canadian work experience in the national occupational code A, O, or B that is obtained via the PGWPP facilitates graduates to be eligible for permanent residence in this country through the Canadian experience class, inside Express Entry. Canada is offering an open work permit to International students
It was announced that international graduates with a Canadian post-graduation work permit (PGWP) that has expired or will expire soon are eligible for a new open work permit.
This open work permit will allows as many as 52,000 international graduates, many of who have been prevented from fulfilling their Canadian work experience requirement for permanent residency due to time pandemic time period , to remain in Canada for 18-months. Post-graduation work permit holders can take advantage of the new open work permit beginning January 27 through July 27, 2021
