Canada is extending measures for visitors to apply for work permit

For allowing the visitor visa holders, IRCC has provided some temporary guidelines to that visa holder who has job offers with them to stay in Canada. The holders can start their work when their work permit gets approval. Basically, Canada has extended the coronavirus-related measures for the temporary residents that were released in 2020, these temporary residents should have their offers to apply for their work permits without leaving Canada.

Temporary measures renowned by IRCC for the visitors to get their work permit

To allow visitor visa holders, Immigration Refugees Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has given some temporary guidelines to the holders with job offers to stay in Canada. These holders can start working when their work permit gets approved. Basically, Canada has extended the coronavirus-related measures that were released in 2020 for the temporary residents with job offers to apply for their work permits without leaving Canada.

Between August 24, 2020, to March 31, 2020, Immigration Refugees Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has introduced some measures in which the foreign nationals who are in Canada will get benefit from these temporary policies. According to Immigration Refugees Citizenship Canada (IRCC) media release, the visitors will be benefited from the temporary policy until August 31, 2021.

Eligibility criteria for visitors to get their work permit

  • Any visitor with a valid job offer can apply for an employer-specific work permit
  • The date of arrival of visitors in Canada is usually negligent.

Before arriving in Canada, the visitor would usually need to apply for a work permit. And if they are already living in Canada then they can apply for a work permit.

The visitor must have the following to get these updated measures by IRCC

  • Should have the valid status of a visitor in Canada on the day they apply for this
  • Must be living or lived in Canada with some validated status
  • The applicant must have a valid job offer with them
  • Should have submitted an in-Canada application for the work permit in an employer-specific program which is supported by the Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) or an offer of employment by LMIA-exempt, that should not be later than August 31, 2021
  • Should meet all the other standard eligibility criteria, such as medical checks and criminal checks, etc.

The applicants who have a valid work permit in the previous 1 year, the temporary policy allows them to begin there working for the new employer before getting their work permit approval.  For the applicants in order to start their work before getting their work permit approval, the applicants are supposed to follow the necessary steps which are based on how to get authorization to the work while they are waiting.
