As a result, some new occupations became eligible for express entry. On the other hand, some became ineligible. The updated NOC 2021 came into effect in November. The NOC 2021 is now called a TEER system and under this system, 16 new occupations are now eligible for express entry. These occupations include truck drivers as well. Updates about NOC 2021

NOC stands for National Occupation Classification. It is a system used by Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to categorize every individual’s occupation based on skill. It plays a vital role in immigration plans. As one is awarded a certain score based on the level or skill of the job in the express entry. Till now NOC 2016 was in place, according to which occupations were divided into five categories. These were Skill Type 0, Skill Level A, B, C, or D.

Moreover, as of NOC 2016, people with NOC codes from Skill Level O, A, or B could only apply for express entry. However, now the TEER system is applicable which stands for training, education, experience, and responsibilities. Simply, the difference between the two is that the TEER system has six skill levels. Skill level B in NOC 2016 is now split into two different levels in the TEER system. As a result, 16 new occupations became eligible for express entry and 3 became ineligible.

Additionally, these 16 occupations include truck drivers as well. This means that truck can now submit their file for Canadian PR through express entry. Furthermore, this industry is facing a shortage of skilled truck drivers. One of the reasons for this is layoffs during the pandemic. Apart from this, a large number of people in this industry are aged. So, retirements are also a reason for shortages in the industry.

Express Entry 2022 updates

Express Entry is a pathway for Canadian permanent residency. It is a system used by IRCC to select candidates for PR. The CRS score and NOC Code are the two major things in the express entry. CRS is a Comprehensive Ranking System. Based on this system, candidates are awarded points for their age, education, work experience, and more. NOC codes are important as people with Skill levels o, A, or B can only apply for express entry.

There are some changes made to express entry that is going to be implemented in early 2023. According to Express Entry 2023, IRCC will have the authority to invite candidates for PR through certain groups. These groups will be based on language abilities, work experience, and more.
