Young Professionals Category in IEC

This category is for those

• who has a job offer in Canada that counts toward your professional development
• who will work for the same employer and in the same location during their stay in Canada

There is a condition for Young Professionals, that the work must be

• paid
• not self-employed

 

The Young Professionals category will grant applicants an employer-specific work permit. This means that you are permitted to work with some particular employers. The employer you want to work with must meet all labor laws in the province or territory.

Apart from this, one must take care of the fact that the job you’re offered must fall under TEER category 0, 1, 2, or 3. However, if the job falls in TEER 4, then you will need to prove that it is in your field of study. And this can be done by submitting your post-secondary diploma or degree.

International Co-op (Internship) Category in IEC

You can apply for this if

• you are a student registered at a post-secondary institution
• you have a job offer for a work placement in Canada
• you need to do this work placement to complete your studies
• you will work for the same employer and in the same location

 

Applicants will get an employer-specific work permit through International Co-op (Internship). Also, it must be considered that your internship is in the field of your study. Moreover, the employer must meet all labor laws in the province.

Eligibility Criteria for IEC program

If your country (that you hold the citizenship of) has a Youth Mobility Agreement with Canada, then you can apply through any one of the three categories mentioned above.

However, if your country (that you hold the citizenship of) does not have such an agreement, then you need to apply through a recognized organization.
